100 Years of Graduating Students!We will graduate our 100th class of students in June 2011. Throughout the school year (2010 - 2011) we will have many special events. Celebration Events Plans for the IJS Centennial Celebration are underway! The following events are being planned: Library Renovation 100 New Library BooksAs part of our Centennial Year, we are offering families the opportunity to contribute to the library. All books will have a special label acknowledging the donor. We are hoping to add 100 new books - biographies and Caldecott Medal Award books. Alumni If you are a former student or teacher, please fill out our contact form or send email to our Alumni Coordinator, so we we can keep you informed of upcoming events. Volunteers Needed There is a great need for your help in order for this year-long celebration to be successful. Some of the specific areas where you could volunteer are listed below. Please send email to Lisa Lathram, our centennial coordinator, if you can help with one of these activities. A summary of what we need help with is also available here. Historian- collect and organize data about IJS over the last 100 years/prepare slide show for Centennial dinner and Open House **this will be a small group with a leader Fundraising- Chair is Walter Kwiecinski We need several people to support Walter in obtaining donations, making phone calls (list to be provided), and picking up items. Decorating- set up and decorate for Signature Event, set up auction tables ** this will require a small group with a leader Accounting - Chair is Karla BlackHelp is needed to label the auction items and to facilitate the prize collection process at the end of the night. Centennial Garden - This garden area will be located on Crown Street in front of the school. A few people are needed to implement the completed design. Alumni Finder- Several people are needed to help Michelle Guzas with data entry and phone calls. This is a critical area where help is needed! |
