Here's a very short description of what we're doing in computer class just now.  I update this monthly, so check back often!

May / June

*  They learned some more tricks about using the drawing toolbar, and created some lovely Mother's Day stickers. They are also preparing to play a special computer version of Who Want to be a Millionaire.

April

*  They continue to do keyboarding practice in every class, and are moving up the levels in DanceMat Typing. We reviewed everything they have learned so far in preparation for their quiz.

March

*  This month they will be working on a PowerPoint presentation on a body system, in conjunction with their Science unit.

February

*  After working hard on their Dictionaries, they earned a "free choice" class. This month they will be learning how to create pie charts in Excel.

January

*  Keyboarding practice will continue throughout the month, using DanceMat Typing. They are also finishing up their Dictionary Project, learning some new formatting techniques in Word..

December

*  They will learn how to use the drawing tool bar in PowerPoint. They will continue with their computer dictionary, by adding 6 new terms to it this month.

November

* We discussed the importance of proofreading homework and class work, and used the spell checker in Microsoft Word. They practice keyboarding every week in class.

October

*  We will be discussing safe research techniques, and looking at some of the great web sites, such as Factmonster, that are available to help with homework.  They will also continue adding terms to the Computer Terminology Dictionary, which they began last year.  This gives them practice using their developing keyboarding skill in a practical manner.

September

*   I will also introduce JumpStart Typing, which they will be using throughout the year for keyboarding practice.  We will be talking about Internet Safety, using the NetSmartz web site, and they will be completing a worksheet on this topic.
