Students in Grades K - 6 visit the library on a weekly basis.  The Kindergarten children spend thirty-five minutes learning how to care for books and the proper procedure for checking books out, which they begin doing by late Fall.  They also listen to stories, take part in activities and learn the basic concepts of a book.  Grades 1 - 6 come to the library for a forty-minute period, at which time they check out books, listen to a story, and learn library and research skills on a progressive scale. By 6th grade, the students are involved in a “country report and project” in their classrooms, which allows them to utilize all the skills learned over the years in a purposeful and exciting manner.

Library services are available to all students at Infant Jesus School.

Fees Students will be charged a late fee of $.10 per school day for overdue books.  A fee will also be imposed for lost or damaged books.  If a student is absent on a scheduled library day, a fee will not be charged if the book is returned on the first day the child returns to school.

Book Fairs We usually sponsor an annual Fall Book Fair and a Spring Book Fair to raise money for new books and videos.  Our Fall Book Fair is scheduled the week of November 2, 2009.  Our annual Spring Book Fair will actually take place this winter during Catholic Schools Week, which begins Sunday, January 31 and runs through Friday February 5.  Schedules for both book fairs will be sent home prior to each individual fair.  We will also once again be having a book fair at Barnes and Noble scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  More information will be sent home as soon as plans are finalized. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to e-mail me or drop a note to my attention.

    Happy Reading!

100 Books for 100 Years

As part of our Centennial Year, we are offering families the opportunity to contribute to the library. All books will have a special label acknowledging the donor. We are hoping to add 100 new books - biographies and Caldecott Medal Award books. If you are interested in purchasing one of these books for the school, please see Mrs. Dumont or click here for a list of books that are wanted.
