Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
-
In the morning parents should not get out
of their car while stopped in the drop off lane. If you need to help
your child please park your car in the appropriate area.
-
A student should come to school with a
dismissal note specifying who will pick up the student at the dismissal
time when not being dismissed according to the regular schedule.
-
The parent, guardian, or other individual
who has been given permission to pick up the child will be asked to
report to the school office and sign a log book.
-
Whenever a question arises about a student
dismissal, school personnel will attempt to verify the dismissal by
contacting the parent or guardian or by questioning the child.
-
Half-day kindergarten dismissal is at
11:15 a.m. Full day kindergarten dismissal is at 2:45 p.m. Grades 2-6
dismissal is at 2:50 p.m.
-
Half-day kindergarten parents arriving
late for dismissal must report to the office to pick up their child.
Full day kindergarten parents arriving late for dismissal will report to
the After School Program. If a parent is more than 10 minutes
late in picking up a child at dismissal time, the child will be sent to
the After School Program and a fee will be charged to the parents.
-
Please be on time. It is upsetting to
your children when they have to wait to be picked up.
-
Parents should leave the parking lot
promptly after their child(ren) is dismissed to alleviate congestion in
the lot. While waiting for siblings to be dismissed, children should
wait quietly by their parents and not play in the parking area.

Confidentiality of Student
Record Access
School
Records
Infant Jesus School keeps all educational
records required by State law. The school complies with the provisions
of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (also known as the
Buckley Amendment). Parents have a right to inspect the educational
records of their children. Upon request, parents may view the records in
the presence of the principal or his/her designate. All requests to
review records should be made in writing at least forty-eight hours in
advance of the review.
Students and parents names, addresses, and phone
numbers will not be released to anyone unless an authorization is
received in writing by the school.
Student record access - CUSTODIAL/NON-CUSTODIAL/GUARDIANSHIP
INFORMATION
For the child’s protection, if there are legal
guardianship and/or custodial implications of which the school should be
made aware, please be sure a copy of the necessary legal document is
made available to the school. All legal documentation will be on file
in the school office.
This school abides by the provisions of the
Buckley Amendment with respect to the rights of non-custodial parents.
In the absence of a court order to the contrary, we will provide the
non-custodial parent with access to the academic records and to other
school-related information regarding the child. If there is a court
order specifying that there is to be no information given, it is the
responsibility of the custodial parent to provide the school with an
official copy of the court order.
All divorced parents are requested to furnish the
school with a copy of the custody section of the divorce decree. This
information will help the school in determining when, if ever, the child
can be released to the non-custodial parent.
Parents who have joint custody of their children
must agree on procedures to be used during an emergency
situation. Both parents must sign the agreement.

Emergency Information
From the beginning
of the school year, parents should be sure that all emergency
information for their child is up-to-date. If any information changes
during the course of the year, the school must be notified. If you have
an unlisted telephone number, please note this so that it may be kept
confidential.

Health
Parents of students
with special health, emotional, or behavioral problems (such as:
allergies, diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, rheumatic fever, recent surgery,
or other medical problems) should inform the principal in writing upon
enrollment. This information will allow the school to seek proper
treatment for these students.
Physical handicaps,
including vision, hearing or speech impairments, which would affect
classroom performance or participation, should also be brought to the
attention of the principal.
Medication
The Principal or
designee will work with the parent/guardian and, where appropriate, the
student’s medical provider, to coordinate the administration of
medication. It is deemed most important, for the mutual benefit of the
child and the school, that uniform procedures be implemented. No
medication will be dispensed to the child without written permission
from the student’s medical provider.
School Regulations
- Any student who is required to take an
oral medication, during the school day, as ordered by a licensed
physician, will be assisted by a member of the school staff, so
designated by the building principal.
- A medication permission form completed and
signed by the physician and parent or guardian that gives the name of
the drug, dosage, and time of administration, is required for all
medicine taken during school hours (both prescription and
non-prescription drugs). If a change in medication, dosage, or time
schedule is made, the prescribing physician must send another written
statement outlining the changes. Your doctor may fax this information
to the school at 594-9117.
- Medication permission forms must be
renewed each year.
- The parent or another responsible adult
will deliver the medication to a member of the school office staff in
the original, pharmaceutically dispensed and properly labeled container.
- Parents are responsible for maintaining an
adequate supply of medication in the school.
- Medication will be kept in a locked
container in the main office.
Illness
All parents should
see to it that their children are in good physical condition before they
start off for school in the morning. Although perfect attendance is
desirable, a sick child should never be sent to school. The close
proximity of seating in the classrooms accelerates the spread of
communicable disease. Children should be fever free (less than 100
degrees) for 24 hours before returning to school after an illness. If
your child has a morning temperature of 99+, chances are it will go
higher later in the day. It’s a good idea to keep children home when
this occurs. Also, please keep your child home if he/she has had any
vomiting and/or diarrhea during the night.
Immunization Policy
-
All
children at IJS shall be immunized prior to school attendance according
to the current recommendation of the New Hampshire State Board of Health
Agency. Written proof of immunizations must be on file in order for the
child to attend school.
- Any child may be exempted from the above
immunization requirement if he/she presents evidence from his/her
“licensed medical physician,” stating that immunization will be
detrimental to the child’s health.
- All children should have a physical prior
to entering grades K or 1.

Hot Lunch Program/Late Hot Lunch Order Forms
Unless a child is
out sick, we expect the order forms and payments to be returned to
school on the designated due date. If we receive the order form and
payment after the designated time, we will not process the order for
that month, and we will return your payment.
If a child forgets
his/her lunch, a sandwich, dessert and milk will be given to the student
and a fee will be charged. The same will apply if a child forgets
his/her milk money.

No School
Announcement
The announcement of “NO SCHOOL” or
“DELAYED OPENINGS” for all Nashua schools will be given over the radio
station FM/WHOB 106.3 and WZID starting at 6:00 am. Infant Jesus School
will follow the Nashua public school closing. It is rare that the name
Infant Jesus School will be announced. If there are special

individual pictures taken in the fall session for school identification
purposes.

School Security
All school entrances are kept locked
during the school day. Anyone wishing to gain admittance at any time
must do so at the Crown Street entrance. Upon entering the school,
everyone must sign in at the school office and be issued a pass.
Once in the building parents are not
allowed to detour to their child’s homeroom for any reason. If a message
or item needs to be delivered, school personnel will fulfill the task.

Telephone Calls
Teachers cannot leave their classrooms
for telephone calls. If you wish to make an appointment with a teacher,
call the school and leave your name and phone number. The teacher you
wish to meet with will return your call as soon as possible. No teacher
is to be called at home unless this is the teacher’s request.
Because we are trying to build personal
responsibility, students are not generally allowed to call a parent to
bring items to school that have been forgotten.
Portable or cellular phones are not
allowed at school.

Transfer and
Withdrawal
Notice of a student’s withdrawal from
Infant Jesus School should be made by the parent to the principal and
teacher in writing no later than 3 weeks in advance of the withdrawal.
This will enable the teacher to secure grades and the finance office to
settle accounts. Records will be sent upon written request from the new
school. All fees must be paid before school records will be released.

Transportation (Grades 1-6)
(SCHOOL BUS) All bus students will
adhere to all transportation policies set forth by the Nashua Director
of Transportation. The policy handbook “Transportation Rules for Pupils”
is distributed to those students who take the bus. Additional copies are
always available in the office. Children will not be allowed to ride a
bus unless they have a note signed by a parent and signed by the
Principal. The student must present the note to the bus driver.

Volunteers
Volunteers comprise a valuable segment
of our school community. Their talents in various areas often complement
the expertise of the school staff. It is essential that volunteers keep
in mind the importance of their role and bring to it a professionalism
and discretion when working with both the youngsters and teachers.
Observations and information about individuals or classes learned while
serving, as a volunteer should not
be shared or discussed with anyone other than the school personnel
responsible for the well being of the children/school. Please do not
bring younger siblings while volunteering in a classroom setting.
Qualities that are essential to a
successful volunteer include reliability, punctuality, discretion,
trustworthiness and flexibility.
The school follows all Diocesan
Policies in regards to background screening. All volunteers must
complete the Protecting God’s Children workshop and paperwork in order
to volunteer in any capacity at our school.
If you haven’t completed this workshop
please check the Diocese of Manchester website at
www.catholicchurchnh.org. Select Child Safety and a list of
available workshops will be listed.
After the workshop please fill out the
Diocese of Manchester Volunteer Application, read the Promise to
Protect, Pledge to Heal Policy and sign the acknowledgement sheet, and
also complete the state criminal record release form. This form must be
notarized. A fee of $7.50 must also be submitted with the paperwork.
